About Tagly

Free hashtag and keyword tools for creators

Tagly is a free tool that turns a topic into a ranked, platform-specific set of hashtags and keywords in a few seconds. It was built for creators who want to spend their time making content rather than searching through tag lists. It is run independently from the United Kingdom.

What Tagly does

You type a topic, choose a platform, and Tagly returns hashtags, keywords, long-tail phrases, related searches, caption and title ideas, and a complete publish package. Every tag is placed in a broad, medium or niche tier so you can build a set that matches your account size rather than copying the largest tags available.

Alongside the generator, Tagly publishes seven free single-purpose tools, including a hashtag counter, a banned-hashtag checker and a caption generator, and a library of 25 long-form articles on how hashtags, keywords and recommendation systems actually work on each platform.

How the rankings are produced

Rankings are generated by an automated scoring engine that runs in your browser. It combines a curated, niche-specific tag library with per-platform rules: TikTok's five-tag cap, LinkedIn's three-tag convention, YouTube's 500-character tag budget, and so on. Scores for popularity, competition and trend are estimates, and they are labelled as estimates wherever they appear. Tagly does not have privileged access to any platform's internal data, and does not claim to.

The trending lists are curated by hand roughly once a week from publicly reported trends, and each list shows the date it was last updated.

Who it is for

Creators, small businesses and social media managers who publish on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Threads, Pinterest or Reddit and want tags that follow each platform's own conventions.

How Tagly is funded

The generator and all tools are free with no account. Tagly is funded by an optional Pro subscription ($3.99 per month or $29 per year), which unlocks the full tag set, CSV export and saved history, and by advertising on some content pages. Advertising never affects which tags are recommended.
